6Aika Digipore

6Aika Digipore project is a joint project between the cities of Espoo, Helsinki, Oulu, Tampere, Turku and Vantaa. It is based on the need to reconcile the life cycle of digitalisation of working life with the lifecycle of a person’s working life. Digitalisation is changing and has already changed the way work is done. Low-skilled people are becoming increasingly difficult to enter the labour market. Our education system is not yet fully capable of preparing young people for a digital world of work. There are also a large number of highly educated unemployed people whose skills are outdated. The aim of the project is to increase employment in the technology sector, to strengthen digital skills, to increase the attractiveness of the technology sector and to create services that benefit new businesses and those who are not in employment or training through agile experiments. The project looks at its target group according to a life-cycle approach. The various sub-projects focus on different aspects of the life cycle of working life and digitalisation. Four sub-projects focus on labour market entrants under 29 years of age and on the return to work of the two highly skilled unemployed. The project will bring a new approach to promoting employment in municipalities. Instead of traditional activities from an unemployed person, the project is built on the skills needs of companies. The project also focuses on responding to the change in working methods and making digitalisation accessible, especially to those at risk of social exclusion, with the idea of “the digital of the people as a whole”. The project will be implemented in two development work packages. A work package called Youth Career Paths in the Digitalisation model young people’s career paths in high-tech digital sectors in close cooperation with industry and urban development organisations. The aim of a work package called digital talents for companies is to define the needs of companies and to provide a platform for potential employees to show their skills in partner companies. The successful project will be implemented through the joint development of the Consortium’s communication and the procurement of rapid experiments such as enterprise-driven precision trainings. Rapid experiments seek solutions that can be implemented through digitalisation, such as e-learning, community-based knowledge building and swarming. At the same time, the project results focus on companies‘digitalisation needs and participants’ involvement. The results of the project will be reflected in the transition of participants to employment, entrepreneurship or training. The materials of the project will remain available to non-participating cities.
