The aim of the project is to promote cooperation between upper secondary schools in working life in order to enable smooth transitions to further studies and working life of those who have completed their upper secondary school studies. The aim is to build permanent upper secondary schools’ working partnership networks and to develop and experiment with working partners with new kinds of learning environments and collaborative models. At the end of the project, the good practices developed during the project will be described as a nationally usable operational programme for working life and higher education cooperation in upper secondary school education. The aim of the project is to respond to the needs of Turku, Pori and Vaasa regions to produce skilled workforce for the needs of the region’s business community and the acute need for positive structural change, particularly in Southwest Finland, to strengthen the mathematical and scientific knowledge of those entering the labour market and to increase interest in studying technology fields. The need is met by developing and experimenting with universities and companies with new types of study modules and projects built around global challenges and phenomena, as well as smoother access to postgraduate studies from high school to higher education institutions. The working life knowledge of upper secondary school students and information on opportunities for further studies will be increased by developing new models of familiarisation with working life and university studies applicable to the operating culture and annual rhythms of the upper secondary school. The knowledge of upper secondary school teachers and management of the rapid changes in working life and their impact on the skills required of those who have completed the upper secondary school will be strengthened by developing new ways of familiarising themselves with working life as part of their own work. The project also aims to strengthen the participation of upper secondary school pupils by involving them in the development work at all stages of the project. The main measures of the project are:- Building upper secondary school partnerships and networks- New models of high school cooperation- Increasing upper secondary school students‘knowledge of further learning opportunities and working life and strengthening inclusion- Increased knowledge of the working life of upper secondary school teachers and management- Introducing, productisation and dissemination of project results The project results result in upper secondary schools’ working life partnership networks, work-life-based learning environments and course implementations, as well as university cooperation models based on the collaboration of students representing different levels of education. As a result, upper secondary school students’ knowledge of the opportunities for further studies and the skills needed in working life will increase, cooperation between upper secondary schools and working life as well as upper secondary school and other levels of education will increase, the passing of upper secondary education will become more effective, and the implementation of the Youth and Education Guarantee will be made more effective as from 1 October 2018 until 28 February 2021. The project will be implemented as a wide-ranging partnership network involving the actual implementing organisations of the City of Turku’s field of education/high school education, the City of Pori upper secondary school education, the City of Vaasa upper secondary education, the University of Turku and Turku University of Applied Sciences Ltd.
