The choice of Finnish society to implement sport is dual career. This means that, alongside sports, athletes are expected to be trained like others. In order to support this, different sports actors, with the permission of OKM, have created a sports school system. Sport school activities have developed rapidly in recent years. The model based on sport upper secondary school activities has expanded to different levels of education (sport academies) and the overall grip of the activities of the sporting student has deepened. The role of sports academies in the national sports field is very important. Vuokatti- Ruka Sports Academy’s role in the Finnish sports academy system is significant so far, with a profile of young athletes (from upper school to military service) to the top, mainly in snow sports and baseball. Athletes are active and entrepreneurial. In Kainuu, those who have gone through the Academy are largely willing to stay or return to Kainuus to do their careers as well. Many have also done so. In today’s changing world, it would be important to find ways at the forefront of how to get young and entrepreneurial, educated athletes to bring good to our province. Organisational developmentOrganisation development is based on a modern future-oriented operating model for boarding institutions, in which multi-professional competence is effectively utilised3. The aim is to map and create a model for the development of individual study opportunities for athletes after secondary education or military service in Kainuu. In addition, a system will be put in place to monitor students’ success, post-graduate studies and working life after the academy path.Measures1. Develop a goal-oriented individual plan for both studies and sport, supported by the College’s multi-professional working group. For the success of the plan, life management skills will also be included.2. Develop a constantly evolving organisation based on the student’s needs. There is always a person in the organisation to whom the student can turn to any problem3. Broad identification of opportunities for postgraduate studies in the region. Remote and open university opportunities are also explored and individual athlete path models are created in the course of study guidance. ResultsSporters will improve their educational success and enjoy school and guardians have a safe feeling of accessing a young sports academy. A multiprofessional support network is formed for the athlete, which supports him in all situations. Support is not limited to the time of the sports academy, but also to the future after the Academy.
