Growth and competitiveness in the coastal region (KASKI)

Change in the operating environment and business operations of all organisations is continuous. It often creates pressure and resistance, as change brings uncertainty and demands for learning. The project has two main objectives: increasing the capacity of companies’ personnel to change and developing management skills in change and innovation management in micro- and small and medium-sized enterprises in the region. The measures of the project strengthen staff’s wellbeing at work, well-being at work and the creation of internal motivation through the development of an open and inclusive working culture. These measures improve the productivity and performance of personnel’s work, as well as the company’s overall success in tightening and internationalising competition. The specific pilot and development component of the project is the transfer of the company’s business from subcontracting to the development and manufacture of its own products. The project develops and consolidates a business counselling approach that focuses on personnel issues, personnel skills, human resource management and competence development for business customers. The project will help micro- and small and medium-sized enterprises in the region to modernise their business by making better use of and developing existing know-how. In this project, companies’ business renewal is implemented through coaching company-specific counselling, peer learning and bringing new knowledge to the area, as well as by organising trainings, workshops and coaching. Project workers are involved in the production of coaching advice on a company-by-company basis. The target group of the project is micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and their staff, regardless of the sector, in the region of Raahe and Ylivieska. The measures of the project may always be directed at manufacturing companies in the service sector. The main responsibility for the administration lies with the Kalajoki Region Business Services Centre and the development of the Raahe region is responsible for the project with its own partial implementation.
