Education Gate — Strengthening the holding and attraction of Etelä-Savo as a training region

Training Portti — Strengthening the holding and attraction of Etelä-Savo as a training region The objectives of the project are central to strengthening the vitality of Etelä-Savo and to making the transitions in education and working life more flexible. The project is based on the needs identified in the South Savo Competence Strategy 2018-2021 and its key actors are secondary, tertiary and informal education. In order to strengthen the vitality of the project, the aim of the project is to raise the profile of the province of South Savo as an educational province, to increase the attraction and retention power, to attach to the region’s working life and to raise the level of education. To achieve the main objective, the project is structured into sub-objectives which are also linked to the development of career guidance.Part 1: using service design, the project will clarify the strengths and specificities of the various training providers in the province and develop common training pathways that are strong in the region on the basis of the survey Sub-Objective 2: the project develops new kinds of customer-oriented methods for informing about educational paths, utilising digital, game-based solutions. Sub-objective 3: the project strengthens existing and pilots new work-life-based learning environments combining different actors and levels of education and genuine working life environments. From the perspectives of South Savo’s future, vitality and pull and grip power, the objectives of extensive cooperation are 1) to identify the special strengths of the training offer, 2) to provide them as sedentary pathways, 3) to communicate them effectively by utilising digital and game-like solutions, 4) to combine joint stages of career guidance (digital, gamification and artificial intelligence) and 5) to strengthen and build attractive working environments that combine different levels of education. The result of the project will be training paths developed for the training needs identified in the regional competence strategy and using cooperation between different actors, as well as centralised solutions and information channels using user-oriented, gamification and digital career guidance, as well as service design. The development of working life environments and work-based learning environments shared by actors at different levels of education in the provincial cities is also very important. Through the outputs developed at the end of the project, training services can be found more easily for the customer, cooperation between training providers is strengthened and awareness of the training offer within and outside the province is increased. In the long term, the measures will increase the vitality and attraction of Etelä-Savo through cooperation, common educational paths and making them visible, as well as the development of common learning/working environments.
