Digiportaat 2.0 — Pathways for SME business growth

The ‘Digiportaat 2.0 — Pathways for SME Business Growth’ responds to the need to develop the digital skills and capabilities of SMEs. At the same time, companies will be able to respond to the challenges and changes brought about by the COVID-19 situation. The effects of the crisis must be turned into strengths in learning new things. The project is implemented by South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences Ltd (Xamk), Mikkeli’s development company Miksei Oy, Savonlinnan Project Development Oy and ProAgria Etelä-Savo.The project aims to improve the digital skills of South Savo SMEs and help them to grow. Many entrepreneurs already have basic capabilities, but the project raises the bar higher: if there has been a need in the past to help companies find and stand out in digital channels in general, the Digiportaat 2.0 target is to turn this visibility into euros. The project utilises the tried and tested agile training model created by the ‘Digiportaat — digital growth for business’ project. The project carried out in 2018-2021 has built a strong and even exceptionally distinctive Digiportaat brand, which is recognised and incorporated by companies with positive perceptions. However, the need for training is continuing due to the rapid change both in the business field itself and in the project area in the world of digital channels, services and tools. Digiportaat 2.0 offers clear learning paths on both the basic and in-depth levels, as well as the implementation of focused development programmes based on the current needs of companies. Participating companies receive training, sparring and concrete support to strengthen digital skills and take advantage of digitalisation in their business activities. New approaches will be put into practice directly. The measures follow a layer-by-layer model, where the lowest layers guide companies and provide digital training paths and sparring. The level of requirements on the floor will be increased, ending with the digital marketing programme and the mapping of the conditions for internationalising e-commerce. Companies pay a participation fee depending on the level of the work package and the size of the company. The measures are organised into seven work packages: TP0 Management, Communication and Marketing TP1 Business Development Programme TP2 Digital Training TP3 Business and Network-specific Digital Bearding TP4 Information Management TP5 Digital Marketing Program TP6 Webshop for Growth and International Path The project involves several hundred companies and an estimated 150 companies are involved in the project. Companies participate in a number of training courses. A total of 150 training courses will be organised to reach hundreds of participants. The trainings also include digital workshops, 10 digital info open to all and a final seminar. In addition, the content of the e-learning environment is available. For companies, a framework is established for peer learning and sharing experiences in e.g. digital marketing and internationalising e-commerce programmes. The project will create new skills for companies in the digital environment. The result is better digital skills and the ability to modernise your own business. The learning environment, guides, publications and video materials are available to companies. Online surveys and tests are also available, where participants receive immediate feedback on the development of their skills. The effectiveness of the project’s measures will be systematically assessed using an impact tool to identify the situation at the beginning, during and after the project. In this way, the project itself is better managed by information. The project cooperates actively across project and provincial borders. The aim is to consolidate the good operating models developed in Digiportaat projects into a permanent structure by linking them to the Digital Innovation Hub (DIH) of Etelä-Savo.
