The aim of the Inclusion Quarter project is to develop the working life skills of future social and healthcare professionals, thereby lowering and smoothing the transition of university students into working life. The project develops and pilots, in cooperation with working life, a working-intensive learning model and a supportive learning environment that enables learning close to working life. In the long term, the new operating model speeds up students’ graduation, enabling different ways to build up expertise. The development is based on a working life-based approach. The focus is on co-development with labour market actors. The project also aims to develop the learning environments of higher education to support the learning of those who need special support and students who do not progress in their studies within the target schedule. In addition, the goal is to develop a long-term work-intensive learning process, in which a socionomial/sote student completes studies in the Participation Quarter as a working couple or team so that it strengthens students’ working life capabilities and development orientation. In a similar way, Harjula develops a work-intensive learning environment that strengthens students’ working life capabilities in services targeted to immigrants. The project’s concrete sub-objectives are:1) Developing the working life capabilities of future social and healthcare professionals, thereby reducing and smoothing the transition of university students into working life.2) Develop and pilot, in cooperation with working life, a working-intensive learning model and a supportive learning environment that enables work-based learning and supports smooth progress in learning for learners in need of special support.3) Rotating the operating model into a permanent practice. The target group of the project is those students in the social and health field who face challenges in the course of their studies due to stressful life situations or obstacles due to learning difficulties. Students are lagging behind or have already exceeded the target period. Employees who guide students’ learning in a learning environment or direct students to the learning environment are also the target group. The key actions of the project are the design and construction of the contents of the Inclusion Quarter’s work-intensive learning coaching and guidance model, and the launch of the Participation Quarter pilots, as well as the experimental development of the guidance and coaching model and the evaluation of the pilots and the description and visualisation of the tested operating model, and the dissemination for national use.
