The trans-European network road E262 (Kaunas-Utena-Daugpils-Rēzekne-Ostravas) in Lithuania starts in Kaunas, leads to the Latvian border through Ukmergė and Utena and leads to the Russian Federation (Ostrava) through Daugavpils and Rezekne in Latvia. It is therefore essential to reconstruct the road so that transit traffic is convenient and safe. It is necessary to increase the strength of road surface construction for the maximum permissible load and to implement road safety and environmental measures. As part of the project "Development of the Trans-European Network Road E262 (Kaunas-Zarasai-Daugpils). Phase III of the reconstruction of the coating" on the A6 Kaunas-Zarasai-Daugpilis highway, it is planned to reconstruct 3 sections (total 26.7 km): 142,00-150.10 km; 163.00-179.00 km and 182.80-185.40 km with road safety and environmental measures. The sections to be reconstructed did not meet the requirements of TEN-T roads, did not ensure safe and convenient conditions for road traffic in line with the level of traffic volume, the importance of the road and international standards, thus causing losses to both domestic and international freight operators.
