After reconstruction of the section of the TEN-T road E67 (VIA BALTICA) Kaunas-Marijampolė, road A5 Kaunas-Marijampolė-Suwała from 35.40 km to 45.15 km, safe traffic conditions will be ensured in line with traffic flow rates, requirements for road category AM and established international standards. The implementation of the project will improve the TEN-T road infrastructure in the territory of Lithuania and will have the following long-term effects: facilitate transit and local traffic; improve road safety and reduce the number of accidents; travel time will be reduced. During reconstruction of the road E67 (A5) Kaunas-Marijampolė-Suvalkai 35,40-45.15 km, the 9.75 km section of the road is reconstructed in accordance with the requirements of the technical category AM, distributing it to the right and installing a second carriageway between two lanes and a 5.50 m wide separation lane separating the carriageway. During the reconstruction, many major engineering improvements will be made. Existing single-level junctions with district roads 2606 and 2617 shall be destroyed by equipping different levels of intersection (length — 1.5 km) and thus separating transit and local traffic flows. At the intersections of the road A5 35.68 km and 39.96 km, overpasses are being built. For the passage of agricultural machinery and the transfer of livestock to the other side of road A5, a farm tunnel crossing is being prepared and a tunnel viaduct is being built for the A5 road of 38.51 km. The existing junction with the road Quetkiškis-Utalina is being destroyed, a tunnel crossing is being prepared, a tunnel viaduct is being built on A5 42.22 km. Carriageways to adjacent roads are destroyed, connecting roads are installed on both sides of road A5 (length — 14.47 km). The environmental measures envisaged include: underground wildlife crossing of the A5 44.59 km; noise-absorbing barriers; rainwater treatment plants Planned reconstruction of engineering networks: reconstruction of electronic communication lines; conversion of overhead power lines; the drainage of the roadside is arranged.
