Sustainable development depends on the personal contribution of all countries, peoples and their members of society, regardless of their profession or social status. Everyone has to think about the harm to the environment and try to change their consumption habits, so they need to be well informed first. The essence of the project is to raise awareness among the Lithuanian population, which will be aimed at implementing public information and education measures on environmental issues: preparation and dissemination of environmental information in national, regional and district newspapers; organisation of informal educational lessons about the environment and nature for children; organisation of social campaigns promoting behavioural changes in the field of environmental pollution prevention; organisation of social campaigns promoting responsible consumption in the field of waste prevention and management; organisation of workshops in local communities on sustainable development and environmental awareness from a gender perspective; preparation of public opinion survey on public awareness on environmental issues and communication recommendations to reach identified target groups. The aim will be to keep the share of the country’s population well informed about environmental resources during the implementation of the project at least 59 %.
