Reducing the energy intensity of UAB Geralda in the company

UAB Geralda is one of the largest candle manufacturers in Lithuania and has been operating for more than 20 years. The company specialises in creating candles in glass, plastic, tin containers. For the production of candles, the company uses soy wax, palm oil and paraffin. Most of the production consists of grave candles and mosquito candles. An energy audit was carried out to assess the company’s energy consumption and to look for the most efficient energy saving measures. The audit found that all candle production processes consume significant electricity. Therefore, in order to reduce electricity costs, it is proposed that the undertaking generate at least part of its own electricity. Therefore, in line with the audit recommendations and in order to reduce the cost of electricity purchased, it was decided to purchase a solar photovoltaic power plant with a capacity of 150 kW. The power plant is expected to generate 144 000 kWh of electricity. It is hoped that the acquisition of a solar power plant will allow the company to reduce energy consumption in production processes while contributing to the increase and consumption of renewable energy sources.
