Reconstruction of Tauragė city streets (Žemaitės, sandy streets and sand skg.)

The investment project for reconstruction of the streets of Tauragė Žemaitė and sand streets and sand streets was initiated in accordance with the integrated territorial development programme of Tauragė region. This Programme identifies Objective 1 ‘Enhancing employment through improving the attractiveness of work and investment, increasing job accessibility and labour mobility’, which is intended to be achieved by addressing the social, economic, demographic, environmental, climate change challenges of the target areas (including the city of Tauragė). Addressing the problem can reduce negative threats by improving job accessibility by addressing infrastructure obsolescence and safety in an integrated way. In Tauragė, Žemaitė and sand streets and sand pavements are unsatisfactory — the pavements are old, pitted and there is no asphalt at all. The pavements are not installed on the sandy street and on the street, and sidewalks are in bad condition in part of Žemaitės street. The main problem for which this project has been initiated is that the technical parameters of ŽemaitÄ- and sand streets and sand streets are very poor and road safety measures are worn out and insufficient.
