Public institution The Republican Hospital of Šiauliai is planning to implement the project “Modernisation of infrastructure used for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of Tuberculosis in the Republic of Šiauliai Hospital TPLK”, which will aim to address the situation of control and diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis infection in the region of northern Lithuania by improving the quality and availability of personal health care services. During the implementation of the project, it is planned to modernise the infrastructure of the Tuberculosis and Lung Disease Clinic: repair part of the premises of Tuberculosis Division I and II Tuberculosis Division, install an underground connection-tunnel for communication with other hospital housings, purchase medical equipment and medical furniture, laboratory diagnostic equipment, furniture and computer equipment, equip the DOTS office with medical equipment, furniture, computer equipment. Once the project has been completed and the Tuberculosis Divisions I and II have been modernised, the acquisition of modern medical equipment for diagnostics and treatments will provide in-patients with higher quality diagnostics and treatment services, accelerated diagnosis time and accuracy, reduced time for laboratory testing, and more reliable laboratory test results. Once the premises have been renovated and the necessary equipment has been purchased, the target group (tuberculosis patients, their relatives and people in their environment, health professionals and other persons at risk of tuberculosis) will need to receive high-quality public health services in the region of northern Lithuania.
