The project aims to reduce the incidence of morbidity and premature mortality from cerebrovascular diseases in the target areas and other municipalities, improve early diagnosis and ensure the provision of integrated acute stroke health care services in Kaunas clinics. The project will invest funds in the acquisition of new medical equipment: angiographic system of two detectors, magnetic resonance imaging apparatus and computed tomography apparatus. The hospital does not currently have similar medical equipment, which restricts the provision of services and does not guarantee the availability and quality of services. The updated medical equipment will significantly improve the availability of specialised neurological assistance (related to the diagnosis of GSK diseases) for patients arriving to Kaunas clinics from target areas and other municipalities, will reduce the frequency of repeating complex tests, queues to specialists, speed up detailed examinations, as well as help avoid primary and repeated hospitalisations, will reduce the frequency of exacerbations of GSK diseases and their complications, and should reduce the duration of treatment in the inpatient. The qualitative and quantitative upgrade of interventional radiology equipment will substantially improve the availability and quality of modern interventional radiology services, which will significantly improve early diagnosis of GSK diseases and achieve the best global diagnostic standards. It is planned that with the purchase of modern equipment for the prevention and treatment of strokes, diagnosis of strokes will improve, tests will be carried out more quickly, establishing an accurate diagnosis, which will allow the selection of the optimal treatment plan.
