According to the data of the Institute of Hygiene, the incidence of oncological diseases in our society is constantly increasing: over the last 20 years, the incidence of oncological diseases in Lithuania has almost doubled in absolute terms (from 12849 inhabitants in 1997 to 24265 in 2016), while the standardised indicator is the incidence of malignancies more than twice per 100 000 inhabitants (from 359.4 per 100 000 inhabitants in 1997 to 846 per 100 000 inhabitants in 2016). The aim of this project is to improve and ensure the treatment of head tumors in accordance with modern standards not only for the residents of the target areas, Kaunas city but also the country as a whole, thus contributing to effective and timely treatment of head tumor diseases in order to reduce health inequalities and indicators of morbidity, mortality, mortality and long-term disability. Lithuanian University of Health Sciences Hospital Kaunas Clinics unites forces of specialists and scientists providing oncological assistance, introduces and standardises new methods of treatment of oncological diseases, implements cancer prevention programmes, develops science and training. In the project, potential and existing users of the service, such as patients with oncological diseases, or suspected of such diseases. At present, the main problem is inadequate medical equipment.
