In order to ensure the reliability of electricity supply, the stability of the work of the electricity system (EES), the integration of diversified energy sources at both Lithuanian and Baltic level and the integration of the Baltic States into the common European EES, it is necessary to have forces and a modernised electricity sector. This requires updating and extending the EES transmission network. The project “Ensuring the electricity supply and reliability of 330-110 kV transmission networks in the south-western part of Lithuania” will contribute to ensuring the reliability of the EES transmission network, the development of efficient, high-quality and secure electricity supply and transmission in Pagėgiai, Šilutė district and Tauragė district, the reception and transmission of reliable power generated by wind power plants to (from) the electricity system and the development of VPP in the south-western part of Lithuania, and will contribute to strengthening the state’s energy security. The project will consist of two parts: 1) Part 1 of the project — expansion of 330 kV Bitėnai transformer substation (TP) to 330/110/10 kV TP Stage II and 2) Part 2 of the project — construction of 110 kV power transmission line (EPL) Pagėgiai-Bitėnai.
