Connected Lithuania aimed to promote digital literacy and safe use of information technologies. The project engaged and improved digital skills of over 500,000 people, a fifth of Lithuania's population, through various interactive activities. These included training sessions in public libraries, events, competitions, and community initiatives, targeting both young and elderly individuals.
The project encouraged Lithuanian residents to acquire essential skills for efficient, diverse, safe, and responsible internet use by involving local communities. To achieve this, the project:
- Motivated non-internet users to adopt ICT through local communities and "digital leaders"
- Developed a network of young e-Scouts to provide mutual support and share knowledge
- Encouraged existing ICT users to enhance their digital skills through effective and responsible use of ICT opportunities
The Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania upgraded public internet access points in libraries across all municipalities to support these efforts.
