Lithuania’s education is characterised by lower-than-average educational outcomes in the EU, aging of teachers and shortages of young teachers, under-utilisation of compulsory school placements for educators, lower than EU adult education participation rates. This reflects the need for changes in the general education system. During the project, the necessary actions will be initiated — innovations in the field of teacher qualification development and preparation for teacher’s work will be implemented. A qualitative impact on the following target groups will be sought: graduates and educators entering employment; to retrain or acquire additional qualifications for educators; those wishing to become educators from other sectors who already have a higher education. Targeted measures will be taken to address the identified problems and challenges: pedagogical internships for beginner teachers; pedagogical studies and continuing qualification development programmes. The measures will be implemented in partnership with the project partners — higher education institutions. Expected qualitative results of the project: following the project, a mechanism for internships for beginner educators has been put in place throughout the country; attracting new people to the teaching profession and improving the image of the teaching profession; there are preconditions to address the workload of teachers and the increased ability of teachers to adapt to changing educational content. Expected quantitative results of the project: 2221 participants: 1400 non-formal studies and 821 formal studies.
