In order to improve the quality and accessibility of adult tuberculosis treatment services in Vilnius region by centralising the treatment infrastructure in one place, the project of Vilnius University Hospital Santara Clinics is being initiated. During the implementation of the project, it is planned to reconstruct the building at Santariškių str. 14, Vilnius, by installing a tuberculosis hospital, to carry out training on the epidemiological status of tuberculosis and to purchase a car to ensure the operation of the DOTS office. The main target groups of the project are: people with tuberculosis (aged 18 years), patients, their relatives and family members, hospital staff. The implementation of all the activities of the project will improve the quality and safety of personal health care, reduce violations of the treatment regime of those who do not wish to receive treatment. In the long term, conditions will be created to reduce the morbidity and mortality of the Lithuanian population from tuberculosis, to avoid the development and spread of drug-resistant mycobacteria of tuberculosis.
