Improvement of circulatory system disease treatment and diagnostic services infrastructure in Kaunas Clinics

The project aims to improve the early diagnosis of circulatory disorders, the selection of ischaemic heart disease and patients at high cardiovascular risk, to ensure the treatment of ischaemic heart disease and myocardial infarction in accordance with modern standards not only for the population of the target areas, Kaunas city, but also the whole country, thus contributing to the development of effective and timely assistance to the stricken myocardial infarction system in Lithuania in order to reduce health inequalities and indicators of morbidity, mortality, mortality and long-term disability. The project promoter is one of the main Lithuanian hospitals treating patients from all over Lithuania. Currently, the medical equipment available is inadequate, part of the equipment is worn out and the premises do not meet the required requirements, thus limiting the provision and quality of services. The project invests in the acquisition of new medical equipment for ischaemic heart disease, especially for the diagnosis, treatment of myocardial infarction and monitoring of the effectiveness of treatment, as well as the reconstruction of premises. The updated medical equipment will improve the availability of specialised cardiological assistance (related to cardiovascular disease diagnostics) for patients arriving in Kaunas clinics from target areas and other municipalities, will reduce the frequency of repetition of complex tests, queues at specialists and queues for instrumental examinations, speed up detailed examinations, as well as prevent primary and re-hospital hospitalisations, reduce the frequency of exacerbations of circulatory diseases and their complications, help reduce the number of patients treated in inpatient care, for whom services will be provided on an outpatient basis, should reduce the duration of inpatient treatment. Modernisation of part of Kaunas clinics’ premises will ensure sanitary-epidemiological and hygienic regime. The refurbished premises will increase patient satisfaction in the hospital environment, improve their psychological condition and improve staff working and rest conditions.
