Currently, the vast majority of vehicles in the public transport infrastructure of Panevėžys are diesel buses and buses over 15 years of age. These vehicles have high air pollution performance, relatively high vehicle operating costs and increased likelihood of failure. Failures in schedule due to technical failures, as well as noise, vibration and outdated design result in insufficient comfort for passengers, deteriorating the image of urban public transport and thus reducing the use of this service by residents. The acquisition of new buses will reduce the likelihood of bus failures and delays. Also, reduced noise and vibration during the trip and more attractive vehicle design will increase the attractiveness of Panevėžys city public transport for local residents and guests. The project will also contribute to the reduction of urban air pollution.
