The Library of the Blind of Lithuania is a national special library catering to individuals with print disabilities, including visual, physical, and learning impairments. The MoBiLait project aimed to enhance access to information and educational resources for these individuals through the Lithuanian Library Network.
The project modernized the virtual library ELVIS, creating a user-friendly platform and mobile apps for iOS and Android, offering over 16,000 accessible resources. It also produced 700 academic texts in accessible formats, available through ELVIS.
Key outcomes include:
- Training library staff to serve patrons with print disabilities and prepare accessible materials
- Developing integrated readers for seamless access to diverse formats
- Involving target audiences in the modernization process to ensure user-friendly tools
By improving accessibility, MoBiLait promotes social inclusion and equal opportunities for individuals with print disabilities in Lithuania.
