The aim of the project is to ensure the efficient use of the infrastructure and human capital of Kaunas University of Technology (hereinafter — KTU) available and newly developed for research, experimental development and innovation needs of high international level, integrating the infrastructure of the Food Institute into the Faculty of Chemical Technology. The transfer of the infrastructure of the Food Institute to new premises is necessary to create favourable working conditions for the development of common scientific themes with scientific groups of the departments of Food Science and Technology, Synthetic Chemistry, Materials Science, Ultrasound, Environmental Engineering, etc. The establishment of the Food Institute and the Faculty of Chemical Technology in one place will create physical and intellectual opportunities for strengthening the field of food science and developing competences. In this way, not only field studies, but also interdisciplinary research on food systems, focusing on the development of healthy, personalised nutrition products, will be developed. After the implementation of the project activities (after completion of the building Radvilėnai pl. 19, Kaunas A and C premises repair and purchase of planned equipment and furniture) will create an efficient food, biotechnology and chemical engineering research centre, equipped with state-of-the-art technological and analytical equipment, with which the most qualified scientists and technologists will work, carrying out R & D work at international level necessary for increasing the competitiveness and sustainable development of the national food industry. One site will focus on food science, engineering, technology, food chain safety, food quality analysis and food bioavailability research equipment to model, optimise and investigate food composition/conformity, sustainable instrument production and product storage processes, and to develop innovative products and processing processes. Optimal conditions will be created to maximise the accumulated human potential.
