In order to assess how the shortage of ICT specialists has been affecting the Lithuanian labour market for several years across the European Union, the ICT industry association INFOBALT, the Research and Studies Monitoring and Analysis Centre (the current Government Strategic Analysis Centre) and the Agency for Development of Foreign Direct Investments Invest Lithuania carried out a study "ICT specialists in Lithuania: labour Market Situation and Employers’ Needs"_x000D_Analysis showed that between 2015 and 2017 the number of ICT specialists grew 10 times faster than the total number of employees employed in the labour market, reaching 31 500 at the end of 2017. According to the survey of companies in the sector, this trend can be expected to continue in the coming years. Compared to the current number of employees in the ICT sector, the sector’s demand for ICT professionals will grow by 42 %. In order to meet this demand, businesses will need around 13 300 additional ICT professionals in a 3-year horizon. Programmers of different qualification levels (young programmers, programmers and senior programmers) will be particularly in demand._x000D_This project aims to ensure continuous maintenance of the qualification level of the employees, professional mobility and the ability to rapidly reorient to ICT sector activities by implementing training to provide a set of competences needed to start the profession of a programmer, which requires a high professional qualification with a lack of staff in the Republic of Lithuania. During the project we will implement trainings for employees of companies who want to start the professional career of the programmer and training for programmers working in companies who want to improve the qualification of the programmer. Recruitment services will be provided to all participants in the training.
