In order to provide high-quality specialised personal health care for patients over 60 years of age with more than two chronic diseases or geriatric syndromes and conditions, to increase the accessibility of such services and to improve the quality of life of elderly people in the target areas (Vilnius, Utena, Panevezys and Alytus counties), a multi-profile university-level hospital Geriatric Centre will be established to provide comprehensive services for improving the health of geriatric patients. The geriatric centre will have all the necessary infrastructure to provide in-patient, day-care and outpatient geriatric services. During the project it is planned to carry out refurbishment of premises, purchase medical equipment necessary for the provision of services. Geriatric doctors, nursing specialists, physiotherapists, ergotherapists, masseurs and other specialists will work in the geriatric centre. The infrastructure and working professionals will provide an opportunity for complex assessment and treatment of patients’ health. It is expected that at least 36 370 older patients will benefit from the project.
