The project to modernise street lighting in Alytus aims to renovate a significant proportion (25 %) of Alytus city luminaires, thus addressing the problem of worn and energy-inefficient street lighting infrastructure. High-quality street lighting during dark hours improves visibility for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians, creates a safe environment for city residents and guests, which encourages them to spend more time in public spaces; modern luminaires reduce environmental pollution, energy costs and urban budget costs for infrastructure maintenance. The project provides for the modernisation of 1654 luminaires located on 147 streets with 71 350 m of electric cables, reducing final energy consumption by at least 40 % in the modernised street lighting sections (estimated annual electricity cost reduction of 499.65 KWh/year, or 51.58 %).
