The river Nemunas, which runs the inland waterway E41 of the TEN-T network, runs from Kaunas to the Atmatos Estuary, and every year the boat is carried with a carrier. The formation of shallows is stimulated by the fact that hydrotechnical structures — buns in the river Nemunas — do not perform their function due to poor technical condition. In order to reduce the transport of the berth, it is necessary to clean up existing buns and, if necessary, to install new buns. This project addresses the problem of inadequate navigation on the E41 road of international importance — road E41 does not meet the needs of inland waterway users. The aim of the project is to improve navigation conditions on the inland waterway E41 of the TEN-T network. The project will be implemented on the Nemunas River section from 225.6 km in Kaunas to 126 km and from 106 km to 0 km, Atmato estuary. When the road is modernised, the reconstructed buns will form a more straight and narrower stern, which will naturally dig down by narrowing current flow, and part of the soil will settle between the estuaries. The construction of the boat by the Bunoms will enable the Company to maintain the dimensions of the road during the annual road maintenance work, e.g. dredgers who carry out road cleaning works will be removed from the dredgers that have been deposited every year in the fleet. The expected direct impact on the target groups of the project is the maintenance of the defined road dimensions.
