The aim of the project is to develop a Maritime Belt Management Programme for the period 2021-2030 in order to implement the necessary measures to protect the environment and biodiversity of the Baltic Sea. During the project’s activities, the effectiveness of the Baltic Sea Coast management measures and the state of the shore will be assessed. On the basis of existing shore monitoring and new studies, the current state of the Curonian Spit and the mainland of the Baltic Sea coast will be assessed, trends in the dynamics of individual sections, the effectiveness of already carried out shore management works, and the most erosion sensitive areas identified. On the basis of the results of the studies, a Coastal Belt Management Programme will be developed for the period 2021-2030, which is designed to preserve or restore shore-specific characteristics and to increase coastline resilience to the impacts of climate change-induced processes.
