The objective of the project “Reconstruction of individual sections of the Magistralic Gas Pipeline (Stage II)” is to modernise the natural gas transmission system using smart technologies in order to increase the security and reliability of the natural gas transmission system in the southern, south-western, south-eastern, north and western parts of Lithuania — Alytus district, Kaišiadorys district, Elektrėnai, Vilkaviškis district, Panevėžys district, Pasvalys district, Plungė district. During the implementation of the project, it is planned to reconstruct the 3.89 km highway gas pipeline, i.e. to reconstruct the above-ground crossings of the main gas pipeline (MD) by replacing them with an underground — 0.285 km; to reconstruct the undeveloped sections of MD — 3.614 km and to install 5 advanced infrastructure elements — corrosion velocity sensors — in all reconstructed facilities (surface crossings, unfinished sections of MD). The project will ensure safe and uninterrupted transmission of natural gas, improve the quality of the transmission services provided, ensure reliable, safe and efficient operation of the gas transmission system and security for existing and new system users.
