Remote electronic voting (internet voting) is a modern way of exercising citizens’ democratic right. Traditional forms of voting are currently used, either in person, by paper ballot paper or machine-voting. The Electoral Code foresees the introduction of a real remote electronic vote in the 2019 European elections. A pilot system for remote electronic voting will be set up and implemented within the framework of the project. Through it, citizens will be able to freely exercise their right to vote from any computer or mobile device, anywhere in the world. In order to build the system, a preliminary analysis of existing good practices for remote electronic voting will be carried out. The pilot system will be integrated with the national electronic identification scheme, the National Population Database, respectively with CAIS “Civil Registration”. The system will conduct electronic voting simulations and experimental elections by electronic means and prepare for the introduction of the system in production for the 2019 European elections. Some of the key features of the system will be — secret and integrity of vote, cryptography and protection against cyber attacks. The project envisages conducting simulations of remote electronic voting and experimental remote electronic voting in accordance with the provisions of § 145, para. 1, para. 2 and para. 3 of the Electoral Code.
