Improvement of navigation systems and topohydrographic measurements on the Danube — Phase 2

Under Operational Programme on Transport 2007-2013 IAPPD has implemented a project “Improving navigation systems and topohydrographic measurements on the Danube river”, through which the following activities were achieved: the construction of a GPS geodetic network along the Bulgarian bank of the Danube and its connection with EUREF (activity 1), purchase and installation of automatic hydrometric and meteorological stations (activity 2), purchase of floating and coastal navigation signs on the Danube (activity 3), as a purchase of a specialised vessel for hydrographic research (activity 4) has not been implemented, in accordance with the amendment of Grant Agreement No DOPT 33/09.10.2013 by Annex 1, reg. No DOPT — 16/29.05.2015 The new vessel will replace the old hydrographic vessel, which is unfit for operation after 2009. The ship will continue to carry out research activities by the EAPPD, which is responsible on the Bulgarian side for maintaining conditions for safe navigation on the Danube river. The results of the activity will benefit all carriers along the Danube, including those engaged in tourist activities and fishing. The new vessel aims to fully carry out hydrographic measurements in the common Bulgarian-Romanian section of the Danube, necessary for studying the hydromorphological regime of the Danube. With the collected information, electronic navigation maps and forecasting of fairway changes will be updated. Activities foreseen:1. Purchase of a specialised vessel: The ship will be designed, built and delivered to the contracting entity as required by a technical specification. 2. Technical assistance — project management, monitoring and publicity Project management team will be established with specific responsibilities for each member of the team during the implementation of the project activities. Information, communication and publicity measures will be implemented in accordance with the requirements laid down in the Guidelines for Application under OPTTI 2014-2020.
