“Support for health workers in the context of a COVID-19 threat to public health”

Rapid and significant interventions in the health system are needed, including occupational safety and working environment improvement, in order for the system to work effectively under significant stress and to overcome the unprecedented challenges associated with the COVID-19 outbreak. The project will support copper and non-medical staff by providing additional remuneration and due social security contributions, as well as by providing personal protective equipment (PPE).In relation to the potential increase in the number of patients infected with new COVID-19, treatment facilities should plan sufficient PPE for copper and non-copper professionals and develop standard operating procedures for their use. Due to uncertainties regarding COVID-19 transmission mech, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control has developed guidelines for a certain minimum set of PPE to be used in the LD to serve hospitalised patients with suspected or proven infection of new COVID-19. The set includes PPE for respiratory, eye, body and hands protection in order to protect against infections transmitted by contact, aerosol and air-driving routes. Along with the provision of non-op. working conditions of copper and non-copper staff engaged in the care of hospitalised patients with suspected or proven infection of new COVID-19 due to the specificity of the high risk to health of the staff, additional remuneration is provided, linked both to the implementation of the activity under specific risk conditions and to the need for work organisation in the context of a relative shortage of staff caused by the epidemiological situation (changed regime, compliance with containment measures and protocols, etc.). All this requires a high level of moral and professional commitment of the staff serving this category of patients, as part of the motivation is the remuneration provided.
