Develop an automated ultrasonic system to control pipelines and structures and assess their mechanical stress state.

The project will develop an innovative product, representing a system for carrying out automated ultrasonic control of pipelines, pipelines and structures and assessing their mechanical stress condition when monitoring their structural integrity in order to extend the life cycle of the industrial systems in the thematic area “Mechatronics and Clean Technologies”. The innovation being developed is a product that will ensure the efficient storage and efficient distribution of energy, a novelty on the global market. Through its proposal, a team of employees of “Multist” Ltd. together with a team from the Institute of Mechanics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences will conduct planned scientific studies, on the basis of which new knowledge will be acquired concerning fundamental areas of non-destructive control such as defective products and mechanical stress. The developed system will be used to incorporate it into a more complex complete system in the complex survey of pipelines and structures, as well as in the subsequent development of a methodology in the control of industrial systems and assessment of their mechanical stressful state. Within the project we foresee that the innovative product will reach TRL 9 Technology Readiness Level — a tested system in an operating environment that we will apply for patenting. For development purposes, equipment and specialised software needed to validate the prototype will be purchased. As an industrial research, the innovative product will be a technology that can be successfully used subsequently in the validation of other methods of non-destructive control, as well as other methods assessing the mechanical stress of the materials. With the project we will achieve: The development of an eco-innovative product in the field of “Mechatronics and Clean Technologies” of IPIS, which will increase our innovation capacity and competitiveness.
