The municipality of Burgas is included in the area for evaluation and management of South-East AAQ with code BG0006 and is listed as a territorial unit exceeding the norms for indicators: sulphur dioxide, fine particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5) and ozone (Order No RD-969/21.12.2013). The analysis of the Air Quality Improvement Programme 2016-2020 of the Municipality of Burgas and the data from the continuous monitoring report that part of the population of the municipality is exposed to periodic exceedances only under the PM10 indicator. PM10 pollution is a major problem related to the Bourgas AAQ. The territory affected by PM10 overcontamination in 2014 was estimated at 5.4 km² and the population affected by excessive PM10 levels (PM10) was 116 161. The measured number of exceedances for 2017 in AIS Dolno Ezerovo is 116, AIS M. Rudnik — 7, DAS RIEW — 29.Excess of the annual average (AG) of 40 μg/m³ was reported only in the Lower Ezerovo AIS. As a result of the use of solid fuels in households Lower Ezerovo reaches values of and above 120 μg/m³, and the frequency of excess concentrations reaches 55 % of the total number of registered SCCs during the heating season. The project proposal includes the implementation of measures for analysis and studies, the conduct of information and communication campaigns for change of behaviour and the introduction of an effective mechanism for investments in alternative to solid fuel heating systems for the population, with the focus being square. D. Ezerovo. The project will contribute to improving ambient air quality by reducing emissions of PM10 with a source of domestic solid fuel heating for the entire municipality, with target groups whose quality of life will be affected by: 2280 households the population of the city of Burgas — about 210 000 people, tourists and guests of the city.
