This project proposal is a response to the modern social, cultural and economic processes taking place in our society, which impose new standards of relations and development of cities and urban areas. In order to achieve sustainable integrated development in these areas, it is necessary to have an environment that takes account of the dynamics of these processes and facilitates their implementation and multiplication. The modern urban environment must meet the ever-increasing demands of the population and business, while being a factor for attracting tourists and new investors. This implies that the urban environment itself carries safety and security, complies with environmental standards of life, be sustainable over time and be of high aesthetic quality. The economic and demographic expansion of the municipal center in the past 12 years has led to some negative effects on the daily lives of the residents and guests of the municipality and on the overall sustainable development of the cultural, social and economic life in the region. On this basis, the choice of project activities is provoked by:* the need to achieve a modern urban environment by improving its general physical condition in residential districts and central parts of the city; * the need to achieve a secure and safe public environment;The main interventions are foreseen to be in “Cholakovtsi” residential area: reconstruction and rehabilitation of streets, pedestrian alleys and pavements and alley connection with Buzludzha residential complex, including street landscaping/energy-saving street lighting and accessible environment; Reconstruction, rehabilitation of the street network in an old urban area, including adjacent sidewalks, pedestrian alleys, introduction of energy-saving street lighting, etc.;Reconstruction of parking on Kraibrezhna Street, incl. reconstruction of pedestrian steps; square “Connection” — introduction of energy-saving lighting, design of rain sewerage, elements of urban furnishings
