The main priority of Veliko Tarnovo Municipality is the renovation of the municipal educational infrastructure in order to provide adequate conditions for education. There are 26 educational establishments on the territory of Veliko Tarnovo, of which 13 schools and 13 municipal childcare facilities. Despite the efforts of the municipal administration to modernise the building stock, the funds are extremely insufficient to significantly improve the state of the amortised infrastructure of schools and kindergartens.The lack of sufficient funds leads to a deterioration in the overall state of the building stock — the results of this are the very low level of energy efficiency of buildings; inefficient use of school premises/physical lounges, canteens, libraries/due to problems with heating systems during the winter period. The renovation of the proposed sites will practically achieve a complete renovation of the educational infrastructure on the territory of the city. The selection of specific activities is justified by the following needs: Achieving energy efficiency and reducing the overall cost of energy carriers by repairing and replacing internal heating systems, gasification, introduction of energy-saving lighting, thermal insulation of external structures and elements; Modernisation of the school conditions for achieving a better quality learning process by repairing basic building elements/roof, facades, foundations/;Improving sanitary conditions, by performing repairs of the premises in buildings, as well as improving the outdoor yard through modern solutions. The successful implementation of the project will contribute to meeting the above needs by achieving modern educational infrastructure meeting the modern requirements. All project activities are selected and refined in a way that directly addresses the problems of direct and final beneficiaries and leads to their effective solution.
