With this project proposal the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo takes concrete measures to improve the transport infrastructure, the organisation of traffic, the accessibility of the urban transport service, the improvement of the functionality of the city by reducing congestion in the central urban parts, improving mobility, and last but not least limiting the negative impact of transport on the environment and human health. The project proposes an integrated territorial approach, including a system of related activities aimed at a lasting improvement of the economic, social and environmental status of the site. The project provides for the following integrated measures and groups of activities — 1.Equipment of 22 of the busiest stops of the urban transport with electronic information boards; a control centre with a vehicle positioning system for urban transport, including the supply of equipment and related application software, as well as functional upgrade and integration with existing ICT and infrastructure serving paid parking spaces; 2. Implementation of a new urban line on a specific route; 3. Delivery of rolling stock — 3 electric buses serving the newly created urban line, complying with the European standards for harmful emissions; 4. Construction of 1 charging station for the newly purchased rolling stock; 5.Rehabilitation of the street network and the adjoining infrastructure to it, construction of pedestrian overpass, reconstruction of 2 road crossings, improvement of traffic organisation of 4 road crossings through modernisation of traffic light system of some of the busiest road junctions of the city; 6. Construction of two buffer parking close to key nodes of OGT on the periphery of the city, as well as a parking system and information boards for parking of five 24-hour guarded municipal parking lots, allowing for a complete solution for management and control of public parking.
