The project proposal for receiving a grant under procedure BG16M1OP002-2.002 “Combined procedure for the design and construction of composting installations and installations for pre-treatment of municipal waste” under Priority Axis 2 of Operational Programme “Environment 2014-2020” is aimed at taking measures to improve the management of municipal waste in accordance with the national waste management plan. Sustainable management of municipal waste will be achieved through investments in the design and construction of a composting plant for separately collected green and biodegradable waste, together with the provision of the necessary equipment, facilities and equipment for separate collection of green waste and the installation for the pre-treatment of mixed collected waste, as well as the associated waste. The installations will be built on a site located 3 km east of the town of Velingrad in land plot No 033021, “Blagovoto” area, Velingrad municipality. The necessary accompanying infrastructure to the site will also be built: the installation for composting of separately collected green and biodegradable waste will have a maximum capacity of 4 000 t/year and selected composting technology of open heaps with forced mixing and aeration. The necessary equipment, facilities and equipment for separate collection of green waste will be provided. The installation for pretreatment of mixed municipal waste will have a maximum capacity of 15 000 t/year, including mechanical sorting of waste and subsequent stabilisation of sifted biodegradable fraction in a stabilisation module with a capacity of 2 500 t/year.
