The implementation of the project will contribute to the development of sustainable urban transport in Gabrovo through investments in improving transport infrastructure and systems with a positive impact on the quality of passenger service. The project implements an integrated territorial approach, including a system of related actions aiming at a lasting improvement of the economic, social and environmental status of the site. It is part of the Programme for the implementation of the Integrated Plan for Urban Reconstruction and Development of Gabrovo until 2020 under the title X-7.1 “Mobile City”. The project envisages the reconstruction of the transport infrastructure and its facilities through the reconstruction of an existing bus stop in “poob”; reconstruction of a road intersection and pre-gara square; restoration, repair and modernisation of 2 pedestrian underpasses of key junctions and improvement of the organisation of the movement of 5 of the busiest intersections in the town of Gabrovo. For the modernisation of the public transport will be purchased 14 new buses, including: 14 buses with a length of 12 m (± 1 m). The transport systems will be upgraded through the implementation of the necessary information and communication technologies in the public transport by delivery and installation of electronic information boards (EIT) at 104 stops on the territory of the city and delivery and installation of on-board equipment in 57 public transport vehicles. In this way, real-time information on the arrival of vehicles to the stops along a route will be displayed and a public transport management system, including hardware and software, will be set up.
