The Regional Museum of History — Gabrovo (RIM-Gabrovo) is one of the oldest cultural institutions in Gabrovo — a direct successor of the museum created in 1883 at the April High School. The building, which houses Rim-Gabrovo, is classified as architectural-construction and historical cultural property of the New Times, with a category “national importance” with an order of the Ministry of Culture. At the Rim-Gabrovo also operates the Dechkova House — a real cultural asset with the category “local importance”, in which is organised a permanent exhibition “City bit from the end of the 19th to the 40s of the 20th century” of the Regional Museum-Gabrovo. This project covers a complex of investment and marketing activities aimed at the development of RIM-Gabrovo and Dechkova House, diversification of the tourist product and their transformation into museums, providing the opportunity for exercise of non-seasonal but permanent active cultural tourism. All planned activities under the project implementation are directly aimed at overcoming the challenges for the sustainable development of the Regional Museum-Gabrovo and Dechkova House, related to the need for protection, conservation and restoration of the building of the Gabrovo RIM, as a cultural heritage site — a real cultural asset of category “national importance”, as well as due to the inefficient use of its areas, the lack of modern conditions and equipment for the purpose of diversification of the tourist product and modernisation of the exhibition approach and concept. the lack of effective interactive information tools and programs with the potential to attract a larger number of diverse audiences, including people from disadvantaged backgrounds, as well as a lack of places for recreation. The project covers a comprehensive solution, both for the purposes of conservation and conservation of the building of the Regional Museum-Gabrovo, as well as for the effective promotion of the museum and Dechkova House to it.
