New long-term care for the elderly and people with disabilities — Stage 2 — Provision of the new services

The project will open a new social service for the residents of Kazanlak Municipality — a Day Care Centre for Supporting Persons with Different Forms of Dementia and their Families. The service will operate in the city of Kazanlak with a capacity of 40 users. With the opening of the service will be provided an opportunity for people with different forms of dementia and their families to diversify their usual physical and social environment and to be involved in different activities of interest corresponding to their capabilities. Users of the new Day Care Centre will be persons accommodated in specialised institutions and persons living in a family environment. By opening the Day Care Centre, an effective prevention measure will be provided from institutional placement of persons with different forms of dementia. The day centre will be operational for 12 months within the project. A selection of specialised, support and administrative staff and users will be carried out. Supplies, materials and assets and services necessary for the functioning of the social service will be delivered. During the implementation of the project will be used infrastructure, equipment and furniture, built and delivered under a procedure financed by the Operational Programme “Regions in Growth” 2014-2020. The project will contribute to the independent life of persons with different forms of dementia and their families by revealing and providing the new social service, tailored to the real needs of the users. The focus of the project is to provide a friendly environment and care based on respect, which will provide people with dementia with the opportunity to feel good, be valuable to others, build interpersonal relationships, improve their quality of life. Access to day care for people with dementia will significantly alleviate the negative consequences of the disease for other members of their families, providing them with the opportunity to carry out economic activities and take care of their own needs.
