The project “Support for independent living” aims at improving the quality of life of people with disabilities and people over 65 years of age incapable of self-service in order to overcome the consequences of social exclusion and poverty. Its implementation will expand the activity of the Service Unit in Home Environment, established under the scheme “Home Assistance” under Operational Programme “Human Resources Development” 2007-2013. The project will provide integrated social services for people with inability to self-service and people with disabilities, combining complex actions towards long-term care, including social and health services. This will provide employment for unemployed people of working age and, on the other hand, enable people with disabilities to use different services according to their needs. To this end, staff will be recruited to manage the unit, staff to provide services in the home environment and professionals to provide psychological and health support. To ensure the integrated approach of services, staff will include experts with different competence profiles: domestic workers, personal assistants, social worker, psychologist and nurse. This project will build on the good results achieved under the scheme “Home Aid”, “Alternatives” scheme and other measures financed under the Operational Programme “Human Resources Development” 2007-2013, as well as the procedure “New alternatives”, funded by the Operational Programme “Human Resources Development” 2014-2020 through the implementation of a new wider scope and range of activities towards the provision of integrated social-health services and others, according to the needs of the elderly and people with disabilities.
