The main objective of the project “Perperikon — temple of the gods and home of civilisations” is to create conditions for the development of competitive tourist attractions on the territory of Kardzhali Municipality and to stimulate the diversification of local and regional tourism products. Specific objectives are: • Through socialisation, conservation and restoration of part of the Perperikon Archaeological Complex to support the transformation of the complex into a preferred tourist attraction and to provide suitable conditions for its visit all year round; • Through the development of a presentation campaign to stimulate the interest of different groups of tourists; • By increasing the tourist flow, to support the development of local business in the field of tourist services. The project is aimed directly at visitors to the Perperikon Archaeological Complex — Bulgarian and foreign tourists, pupils and students, pensioners and citizens from other social groups, specialists in the field of cultural heritage and last but not least the residents of Kardzhali municipality. The main activities of the project are related to conservation and restoration of part of the archaeological complex, as well as construction of tourist infrastructure for its socialisation. There are also activities for shaping an integrated tourist product “Perperikon” and its promotion — preparation and distribution of information and advertising materials, purchase of interpretative equipment and equipment for the visitor center of the complex, organisation and holding of Perperikon Day, shooting and broadcasting of a presentation clip. The created product will be promoted at two international tourist exhibitions. Implementation of the project on the one hand will lead to the preservation, protection and exposure of part of the archaeological complex “Perperikon” as a unique site of the cultural heritage of Bulgaria, and on the other hand the shaping of an integrated tourist product and its promotion.
