The present project “Construction of the urban environment in the town of Kyustendil” will implement the measures set out in the Investment Programme of the Municipality of Kyustendil regarding the group of activities “Urban Environment”. The realisation of the project will be a natural upgrade over the results achieved in the previous programming period 2007-2013. Through the implementation of the project proposal will be built and restored areas for public recreation including parks, green spaces, playgrounds, town squares. New and restored physical elements of the urban environment will also be built, focusing on improving the connections over the river passing through the central urban part of the city. The renovated sections will rehabilitate the street network and install energy-saving street lighting and security and crime control systems. Improving the recreation environment will also improve the cultural and tourist product, which in turn will improve the opportunities for family hospitality, which is a traditional sector in the area. The implementation of the project “Building the urban environment in the city of Kyustendil” is in line with the EU strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth embedded in Europe 2020.
