“Creating an attractive urban environment in Kyustendil Municipality”

The project proposal “Creating an attractive urban environment in the Municipality of Kyustendil” includes the subject of intervention “Kolushko Dere” — starting point the Banshtitsa River and the end point of the Medieval Church “St. George”, Kyustendil, which falls within the scope of the Integrated Plan for Urban Reconstruction and Development of the town of Kyustendil, namely in the Impact Area II — Social Area and in the Impact Area “Public Functions Area”. The main task of the project proposal is to improve the physical and living environment and to revitalise priority urban areas in the town of Kyustendil. In carrying out this task, activities are envisaged to expand, renew and modernise the green infrastructure of the city in combination with public works interventions in adjacent pedestrian areas and streets. As a result, the quality of the physical environment will be improved and the city of Kyustendil will be attractive both for its inhabitants and for the incoming and for business, while paying special attention to disadvantaged groups. The implementation of the project proposal “Creating an attractive urban environment in the Municipality of Kyustendil” will contribute to overcoming the deficit of green areas in the town of Kyustendil and will provide the local population with open and accessible spaces for sport and recreation. At the same time, improving the existing green infrastructure through modern and innovative landscape solutions will contribute to improving the quality of the living environment in the city of Kyustendil. The combination of these activities will contribute to making the city of Kyustendil an attractive hub for both the local population and tourists and businesses. A clean environment giving equal access to the functions it performs in conjunction with ensuring better access to people’s homes and developing alternative transport is a prerequisite for the successful and sustainable development of the city of Kyustendil, which is one of the 36 cities, centres of agglomeration areas.
