The project proposal provides for rehabilitation and new spatial solutions of the pedestrian zone of the central urban area (CGC) and Todor Kirkov Square in the Architectural and Historical Reserve “Varosha” in Lovech. The interventions, according to the approved investment project and the building permit issued, are divided into 4 sub-sites, 3 of which are the subject of this proposal: 1. the pedestrian part of “Targovska” Str. (from Covered Bridge to Al. Stamboliiski Street), city garden and square “Ekzarh Joseph I”, 2. “G.M.Dimitrov” and complex “Cosmos”, 3. “T. Kirkov” and 4th square “Freedom” — a spare facility.The main administrative buildings, commercial sites, financial, cultural and educational institutions are included, which determines its high public importance and public functions.The sub-sites described were designed and built in the mid-1980s, after which only ongoing and emergency repairs were carried out, without complete development. The pedestrian area is severely damaged and compromised.T.Kirkov Square has a characteristic silhouette, flooring and composition. Around it are located Youth House (main site — “Cultural Infrastructure”) and Covered Bridge (financial instrument), hotel, commercial sites and residential buildings. The pavement of the square, filled with red stone pavers and granite blocks, is severely damaged and deformed. •Full flooring replacement •Construction of fountains in square “Ekzarh Yosif I”, T. Kirkov Square and in front of the theatre •Ramps for providing an accessible environment •A new solution of the alley network in the city garden •Repair the sculpture composition in front of the courthouse. •Opening of a new pedestrian axis from Tsacho Shishkov Street through the city garden to the Cathedral •Revision of landscaping and urban furnishings •Repair of the passage space in the complex “Cosmos” •Introduction of energy-saving lighting •Repair the flooring of T. Kirkov Square, landscaping and shaping the space around the monument.
