The project proposal provides for the introduction of energy efficiency measures in the building for the initial stage of the Secondary General School “Ivan Vazov” — an initial stage located in the town of Nova Zagora. The planned activities include the introduction of the energy audits of buildings prescribed by the consultant, energy-saving measures and the implementation of the technical passport guidelines and recommendations in order to achieve at least the energy consumption class “C” in the building. Better performance of the building in the scope of intervention will significantly reduce the operational costs of the building and contribute to the extension of its life cycle. The project aims at implementing the following thematic objectives under the General Regulation 1303/2013: Thematic objective 4 ‘Supporting the shift towards a low-carbon economy in all sectors’. The interventions under the project proposal will contribute to the achievement of the indicative national energy saving targets for 2020 in accordance with the National Energy Efficiency Action Plan 2014-2020. The support aims to adequately address the problems related to increased migration to major and medium-sized cities, better quality of life and cultural services and modernisation of the public infrastructure in the city of Nova Zagora, as well as to stimulate urban-rural connections. Energy renovation activities will prolong the life of the building, reduce maintenance costs and help reduce greenhouse gases, stimulate people to stay in small settlements by improving the cultural and social environment.
