The project for the construction of a composting plant on the territory of the Municipality of Plovdiv provides for the construction of the basic infrastructure in the PI with ID 56784.504.254, district of Northern-private municipal property. The area in which the investment intention will be realised according to the General Spatial Plan is a high-tech production area. The capacity of the plant is 15 000 tons, for plant waste only. The composting technology is open composting of heaps covered with semi-permeable membrane. Mobile equipment is foreseen to ensure continuity of processes in order to obtain a product — compost.The plan is provided for shredder for crushing plant waste, converter of compost rows, tractor with trailer, mini loader, front loader, sieve for sieving compost, membrane and laboratory equipment.The activities of the composting site will be carried out in a way that prevents environmental pollution. The investment intention covers both basic infrastructure and construction of accompanying infrastructure — water pipeline — 447 m, sewer — 79 m, electricity connection according to a preliminary contract with EVN Bulgaria electricity distribution and access road with a length of approximately 380 m. To ensure the planned composting amount of plant waste, the municipality will ensure separate collection of all the green waste from the maintenance of parks and gardens, street landscaping, separate collection from schools and kindergartens, mourning parks and from two quarters with single-family and two-family houses with yards. The Municipality of Plovdiv has the necessary equipment to ensure the transport of separately collected waste. For the provision of plant waste without impurities according to the Ordinance on separate collection of bio-waste and treatment of biodegradable waste, Plovdiv Municipality has developed a reliable mechanism for preliminary, ongoing and ex post control. The composting technology ensures the production of a product — compost.
