The project “Reconstruction and rehabilitation of pedestrian environment and construction of public recreation areas” was prepared in accordance with the requirements of Operational Programme Regions in Growth 2014-2020, Investment Priority 3 “Urban Environment”.The realisation of the project is part of a comprehensive, integrated approach to urban regeneration and development, bringing together all sites in a single architectural, spatial, thematic and landscape solution, completing the overall vision of the city center and connecting it to the Danube river, thus highlighting the identity of the urban landscape and its uniqueness, in full alignment with the historical structure of the city and surrounding natural assets.The implementation of the project will ensure balanced and sustainable development of the territory to improve the living environment, business conditions and security and will improve the transport and communication service of the city centre. The project proposal covers the following sites, which fall into an impact area with high public functions — Area A, defined under the Integrated Urban Reconstruction and Development Plan (IPRD): reconstruction and rehabilitation of the pedestrian environment along Baba Tonka Street, Ruse;- Rehabilitation and construction of a public recreation area along the coastline in the area of the level crossing of a river station near “Mostova” Str., Ruse — first, second and third stages;- Reconstruction and rehabilitation of the pedestrian environment on Raiko Daskalov Str., Ruse;- Reconstruction and rehabilitation of the pedestrian environment along Slavyanska Street, Rousse;- Reconstruction and rehabilitation of pedestrian environment on “Tsarkovna Independence” Street, Ruse;- Youth Park — reconstruction and park development, including construction of a large playground and outdoor fitness grounds, Rousse, Vazrazhdane complex — fourth stage. The selected sites have the greatest contribution to achieving synergistic effect of the investment program of Ruse Municipality.
