By implementing this project proposal will be purchased and delivered electric vehicles for the needs of the public transport of the Municipality of Ruse — 20 electric buses and 15 trolleybuses. The project will deliver and install 20 filling stations in a trolleybus depot, 4 stations for fast charging through pantographs, construction of 1 BKTP. Repair and reconstruction of the contact network at the junction to the SIMOVAta mill, the route from Simova mill to the Central Railway Station, as well as the main railway station will be carried out. An upgrade of an existing contact network will be carried out by replacing the existing ACCs (automatically controlled arrow) with a new model with remote control (Sadou). Provision is made for the necessary infrastructure for the operation of newly acquired vehicles through an Automatic Vehicle Positioning System; Video-surveillance system and real-time passenger information system, as well as the integration of the new equipment systems with the existing public transport management and control systems of Ruse Municipality. By decommissioning 20 diesel buses and replacing them with new electric buses, 14.527 tons NOx and 0.78 tons PM10 per year are expected to be saved. The replacement of 15 trolleybuses produced 1982-1984 with new 15 trolleybuses will improve the energy efficiency of public transport. In this way, the project will contribute to the specific objective “Reducing ambient air pollution by reducing PM10/NOx quantities” under Priority Axis 5 of OPE 2014-2020 and will lead to improved ambient air quality by reducing the levels of fine particulate matter (PM10) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) in order to achieve the established standards in ambient air.
